Our walk along the Ager now leads us to the middle section. This is the most
enticing section for many fly fishermen, and it begins at the end of the
Regauer Senke at the Roman Moser Parcours. Now it
moves quickly into the Riesenberger curve. In
this curve the Ager has a relatively fast current, but it is slowed down in
flat riffles into a slower-moving pace. This is where the dry-fly-only
stretch on the Ager begins. The leisurely flow to the
Hessenberger dam is perfectly
suited for this most elegant kind of fly fishing. Rushing over the dam, the
Ager reaches the SpitzStraight Stretch one of the best spots on the Ager.
Only slowed down by the granite-boulder structures along the banks, the Ager
flows toward Dornet. Two dams at the end of this spot, also called the
Rennstrecke, take some of the speed away from the Ager and let it flow
leisurely through the Dorneter curve towards the
Stögmüller Dam. Above this dam is where the dry-fly-only stretch ends, and
you can now use nymphs and streamers again. At the
Stögmüller weir
the Ager plunges over a big dam structure and flows rapidly into the
Zeislauer Straight Stretch.
Flat stretches and dead-fall trees slow the Ager to a medium speed in the
direction of the Lower Ager
Footbridge. |
